Abstract:
Gabe Cyr is one of the foremost creators of altered books and a recognized leader in the altered-art community. Here, Gabe not only explains the basic techniques to newcomers, she also broadens the topic and finds new ways to transform a simple book into something amazing. Some of the projects are functional, such as a clock or picture frame. Others reinvent traditional book forms and shapes, such as the accordion and circle design. Still more use fabric, canvas, and collage - all favorites with crafters. There's even work by quilters, doll makers, sculptors, and mixed-media artists; collaborative creations; and 'kid stuff' so children can join in.
