Abstract:
Following the highly successful Diabelli Variations, exclusive Virgin Classics artist Piotr Anderszewski now offers his reading of Mozart's C major and C minor piano concertos, both at the piano and as conductor of the Sinfonia Varsovia. This is Piotr Anderszewski's debut recording with an orchestra. The two Concertos are quite opposite in tone: No. 21 is lithe and joyful, whereas Concerto No. 24, composed a year later is austere and imposing and is one of the most tragic in tone of Mozart's compositions.

Piotr Anderszewski is named as the recipient of the 2002 Gilmore Artist Award. The Gilmore Artist Award is given every four years by the Gilmore Keyboard Festival and is made to an exceptional pianist who, regardless of age or nationality, possesses broad and profound musicianship and charisma, and who desires and can sustain a career as a major international concert artist. Previous recipients include Leif Ove Andsnes in 1998, Ralf Gothóni in 1994 and David Owen Norris in 1991.
