Patient Simulation Course I (COMM_ED100-10002) 0.00 Credit

This course is designed to be interdisciplinary and is open to EMT students, nursing, SMIP, and allied health students. This course will use standardized patient simulations to provide the leaner the opportunity to gain an understanding of the finer points of scene safety, command presence and therapeutic communications, patient assessment and treatment strategies. Many of the scenarios will incorporate all levels of the healthcare team and some scenarios will involve a Spanish speaking patient only and require Medical Interpreters. All participants will gain a better understanding of the anatomy of a 911 call from the prehospital event to having EMS on scene and concluding with delivery to an emergency facility.

This course will focus on scene size up, command presence, therapeutic communication cardiac arrest and airway issues.
